This precious little princess's life has sure been rocked! First, we bring home a puppy. A Puppy. How dare we. Then, said puppy brings her kennel cough. I never really payed much attention to what kennel cough was because I really didn't think Emma would ever be somewhere she could catch it. Unfortunately, she wasn't immunized for it and sweet little Bella brought it to her. It's not uncommon for dogs born in the conditions Bella was to be carriers of several things. The puppies are commonly born with them since the mom's are infected. I guess we were pretty naive when we got Bella because we didn't even think of that. Poor Emma suffered the brunt of that one. She coughed and coughed and coughed and coughed. It was absolutely horrid. I had brought her in right away and they started her on an antibiotic and gave her a cough suppressant. It didn't work. After 5 more days of misery I brought Emma back in and they thought she was getting the start of pneumonia from all the coughing. They prescribed her a stronger antibiotic and a cough suppressant with a narcotic in it.
They had to do x-rays so I asked them to email them to me "for the kids." They didn't have to know it was actually for me. At any rate I find medical things interesting whether it in humans or animals. I learned that Emma might have a few fat rolls around her neck...
We are very grateful that Emma is finally getting better. And...I think Bella may be growing on her, just a little.

'Tis the Season.
It's the most wonderful time of the year!! I have to admit my favorite part of Thanksgiving is when it is over and we can decorate for Christmas! The kids love decorating our real tree and putting the decorations out. It always brings back such good memories from the years before. There really isn't much better than seeing things through a child's eyes.
It's always a fight over who gets to complete the tree decorating with the star on top. Since it was our first Christmas with Bella we found it appropriate for her to do the honors (Emma had her turn last year.)
The girls and I started our Christmas baking also. They are such good "helper." They probably taste test as much as they help...

Summer Bugs.
It is a beautiful summer day and we should be at the pool...instead, we are hanging out at the pediatric walk-in. Apparently, just because it is summer does not mean you are safe from getting sick. Sunday evening Landon started complain of a sore throat. His tonsils were swollen but he didn't have a fever so I proceeded to give him some ibuprofen and make him go to school for the next 2 days. It wasn't until Tuesday evening when he came out of the shower to let me know he had "gnat" bites all over his abdomen that I realized he probably had more than a virus. Tuesday night both girls also started to complain of sore throats and headaches. So I decided we should go to the clinic to make sure it wasn't strep throat. As it turns out all three little munchkins did in fact have strep throat. Yikes! We have had strep throat in our house several times but never all three at the same time! Looking back I am regretting letting them share that smoothie on Friday afternoon...

Last Day of School!
The 2014-2015 school year has just flown by.
Kadence had a fantastic first grade year with her teacher Ms. Gregory at the Osgood K-1 center. I can not believe how much she has matured both physically and mentally. Landon also had a great year with Mrs. Stormon at Aurora Elementary. He has made tremendous progress with his reading and is still excelling at math. He has had a busy year with gymnastics, basketball, flag football, soccer and baseball. He has grown a ton and goes through tennis shoes faster than ever. Some of his favorite things...

Hiatus.
Hiatus.
I am not really sure how to even start this blog post. For some reason I fell so far behind with our family blog that I just gave up. I kept thinking about how I needed to log on and back blog and I just didn't have the energy. The days kept passing by and before I knew it it had been a whole year. An entire year. I had even stopped reading my friends' blogs because it just reminded me of something I was not doing. I just gave up. This is so uncharacteristic of my personality that the guilt has just been eating away on me. The sad part is that writing about the daily happenings in our life was so good for me. I found it therapeutic. I also loved having an organized way to look back at our life. So, instead of starting where I left off I am going to start in the now and work myself back. That way I won't keep falling further behind trying to catch up. The truth of the matter is life is busy. Busier than I ever imagined it would be. With that said, I have decided that this is something that I am really going to try and make time for. For me and for my family! Wish me luck!

Kadence Poetry Café
Kadence was very excited for her Poetry Café at school. Kadence and her classmates have been very busy over the last month learning about poetry and writing their own. She was so excited she was up early and asked me to curl her hair before school!
Kenzie looks up to her sister so much and had to dress up in a dress and jean jacket just like big sister. Then she begged me to take a picture of the two of them. Hard to say no to that. Love these sisters!!
After each student had read their poems we had time for a snack and for Kadence to share some more of her poems with us. She was so happy to have both Ryan and I there along with Grandpa Gary and Grandma Sue!
Kadence and her class was lucky enough to have eggs and and incubator right in their classroom this spring. She has been giving us updates on them very frequently (unfortunately 21 days is a loooooooong time when you are 7). I had to snap a quick picture of the 4 chicks that had hatched. Kadence was so excited to show us all!

As Kadence was flipping through her poetry book I saw this poem titled mom and asked her to read it. She was really shy about it and didn't want to read that one. Well...after she read it, I kind of understood why. This one stings a little even though I know how much she loves me. I guess it's probably true...
This has easily been one of my favorite kid events thus far! We are so lucky Kadence is at such a great school with such a phenomenal teacher!
